- Currently have Hotmail linked to Outlook....everything is fine including
sub-folders.

- Recently tried to link a Yahoo! email account to the same Outlook session.

- Sending/ receiving fine, but there are no sub-folders and it is throwing
the mail into a general "inbox." Would like to be able to create a folder
that says "Yahoo" and link it to that email account, (Hotmail has a folder
that says "Hotmail" and contains all of my sub-folders).

- Sorry if this is too wordy or if I am using incorrect terms. Any help
would be appreciated.

Dear Chuck,

create also in Outlook under your "inbox" a new folder with the name
"Yahoo".

Click on your "inbox" and go in the Outlook menu under "File/New/Folder" and
type in "Yahoo".
Then you will get a new email folder.

Next step will be a rule that move all incoming emails from Yahoo into this
new folder. Go in Outlook under Tools/Rules Assistent and create a rule
like: "For incoming emails with "@yahoo" in the emailaddress, move into the
folder "Yahoo".

Somithing like this.

The difference is that the Hotmail account is an HTTP (WebDAV) account and
the messages remain in the Hotmail server, with Outlook presenting you a
view into that remote message store. The Yahoo! account, on the other hand,
is a POP account and messages generally don't remain on the POP server.
They get downloaded to your Inbox.

You can create a rule that will move those messages to another folder, which
you can label "Yahoo", if you'd like.

Oliver & Brain,

Thanks so much for the help. Was wondering why I could not get the mail
via Yahoo mail. It would seam that having Yahoo linked to Outlook is a bad
idea. Accessing email via a remote computer is no longer possible while it
is linked to Outlook ????

Thanks again,

Not bad at all, from my perspective. I have SBC Yahoo! (same access
methods: POP/SMTP as their normal mail servers) and I choose to leave the
messages on the server, thus enabling access both from Outlook and remotely
on the web.

It is if you elect to leave the mesasges on the server. That options' on
the Advanced tab of your account properties pages.

Brian,

Thanks again for taking the time to respond. Did some digging around,
and can't find the option to leave messages on the web. Is that variable in
Yahoo ! or Outlook. Thanks again !

I never claimed there was any such option. I said "leave messages on the
server".

Since this is an Outlook newsgroup, I should think the answer obvious, but
the option is in Outlook, since "Yahoo!" is not a mail client.

I can't tell you exactly how to open your account properties pages, since
you didn't tell us the version of Outlook you're using, so I'll leave that
for you to figure out. Once you do, however, click the Advanced tab and
you'll see a checkbox that says "Leave a copy of my messages on the server"
or words to that effect.

Brain,

I am so fortunate to have my stupid questions answered. Did not mean to
piss you off, but I can completely understand why you seam so unerved, beings
the questions were so stupid. Once again thanks for your incredibale
patience in taking the time to answer such stupid questions from such stupid
people. Have a nice day.
