multiple identical copies of Applications

-- WhenI click on an application like Internet Explorer, Outlook Express,
etc.I get multiple identical copies. Typically hundred or more.

How do I stop it?
Virus checks don't find anything.

First try a different mouse.

When I put the old mouse back after a different mouse gave the same problem,
IT WORKED fine.
