I use a number of email names, all at cockaigne.d.c.u. I have been
using Turnpike but cannot continue for various reasons, and want to
use Outlook 2000 which is also on my machine. How can I make sure
everything@cockaigne etc is downloaded, and can I use the different
names to send? And can I route mails using different names to
different folders? I've tried the help but cannot find answers to
these questions. Please help, am desperate after megacrash!

I'm no expert but I've messed with some of this before.
You have to ask yourself some questions first.
Do you have multiple users (different people) using this computer? If not,
then you can set up multiple accounts under one user (you).

You can have multiple email accounts on outlook and get all mails from each
account at the same time. This is done by simply adding a new account.
Once set up, you can define rules (on each account) that steer the emails to
particular folders.

The other option is to add an "Identity". The first one is created
automatically by default when you create your logon. By adding another
"Identity", outlook will not get all mails at the same time. Instead, when
you bring up outlook, you will get a dialog that will ask which identity to
load. Only that identity will download the mail.

You can also use a combination. Two identities defines two different people
logging on the computer. Identity one can have one email account while
identity two has 5 emails accounts.

You just need to read up on Identities.

Outlook does not use Identities, Outlook Express does.

Okay, maybe its called something else... but does the same thing (or has the
same effect). I know I've done this before for a friend. Sorry if there's
any confusion.

There is a way... so that when you click the outlook icon, a dialog comes up
and asks which account to use. This is handy if you have multiple users on
one computer or if one person needs to access one account at a time.

Use Profiles - Control Panel->Mail Icon->Show Profiles->New. Also, check
the box to prompt for a profile.
