Multiple digital signatures

Is there a way to have multiple digital signatures on one
email. The process I want is to sign a document,
encrypt, and send it to the next reciepiant. They in
turn will do the same and send it forward. By the time
the last person recieves the document there should be X
number of digital signatures verifing the path of
forwarding.

Is this possible? is it possible in another way?

At least with PGP it is easy - you would just re-sign-and-encrypt the
armored cryptotext through the clipboard. For an example you may want to
have a look at how chaining mail sent through anonymous remailers works.

As for S/MIME, I don't know. Every implementation I have seen has apparently
concentrated on providing a cute GUI to isolate the user from what really is
going on. I wouldn't be surprised if you would have to e.g. use a text
editor to retrieve the S/MIME cryptotext from a mailbox file in order to
process it "raw".
