I need to know the path of the SD reader driver so that I can use the disk
management utility to remove it from drive letter L. My DVD writer is also
assigned to L but does not work. The SD reader icon is found at drive letters
L, M, and N. M is the SD reader's working site. At least the SD reader works
but I do need a working DVD writer.

two things, one you can change the drive letter of either the SD card
or the drive letter of the CD/DVD rom.
you can do this via Disk Manangement in the Manage my computer area.
If you disable or unplug the SD reader, you will see the Drive show up
as the L drive, and you can then right click on the drive, choose
change Drive letter, and select another drive letter.
If you have installed apps via the Drive, then you may want to change
the Drive letter of the SD card instead via the same way.
When you see the L drive mapped to the SD, right click, change drive
letter, apply and the new letter will show up and the DVD will return.
Note- that the drive might not show up right away, so you may have to
restart XP.
This also happens with Mapped Network drives, same issue, same
solution.
