Multiple copies of word

When I have a Word document open and I want to open
another document, it opens another copy of Word. How can
I get Word to open another document in the original copy
of Word?

Which version of Word? W2000 opens each document in its own window, but it
is in fact the same instance of Word, as you can verify by checking the Task
Manager or the Word Windows menu.

Depends on your version of Word. If it's 2002 or 2003, go to Tools >
Options > View and uncheck "Windows in Taskbar". If it's 2000, see
