The MSDN article "RAM Boot Using SDI in Windows XP Embedded with Service Pack 1"
caught my attention with the statement that "this [technology] enables a broad
range of new Windows XP Embedded boot scenarios including multicast remote
boot." However the rest of the article was disappointing because it only
provides a general description of SDI without giving any details of how the
"broad range" of new scenarios might be implemented.

Has anyone implemented anything resembling multicast remote boot? Has anyone
evaluated products from Bootix that appear to support their version of a
multicast TFTP that would be an essential component of multicast remote boot?

What exactly you expected from the article?
If MS described the routes how to implement the MRB client, they would probably have it in XPe already :-)

Anyway.. MTFTP could be a way to go with.
If you want to stick wtih SDI approach where image files could be huge, some protocol tweaks would need to be done. MTFTP was
designed and spec'ed out for a small boot program downloads.

If you have specific quesiton regading RAM Boot multicast solutions, you can ask. There are a lot of ideas about the multicast
client implementation in some minds.
Otherwise, post a feedback to MS feature requests queue:

I haven't played with their products.
There are other related products on the market as well. Although, most of them would require some customizations in order to fit
well in to XPe usage.
