For a variety of reasons, I would like to have several
partitions on one of my HDs each loaded with identical
winXP configurations. (I plan to install beta versions of
several programs and different combinations of apps on the
various partitions.
My question is this. When I install XP to Partition 1 and
try to clone it to Partition 2, it won't boot. (This
problem does not occur with win98.) I assume this has to
do with the way XP handles the MBR.
I want the active XP boot partition to always be C: and
the others to be hidden. I keep data on additional HDs.
Does anyone know a way to create a single image file that
can restore a basic configuration of XP for any of my
partitions? Or do I have to install each partition from
scratch, add and configure all the drivers, then make a
restore image file of it, so I have several "rescue CDs,"
one for each partition?
