MultiBoot XP-Pro and XP-Pro?

I have a 200Gig drive partitioned with three primary drives plus an
extended which contains two virtual drives. I would like to install XP-Pro
on the first, second and possibly third primaries and 98SE on the first
drive on the extended. They don't necessarily have to be installed in that
order. Also have two more physical drives but would prefer to keep all OSes
on the same physical drive if possible.

1. Will more than one install of XP-Pro work on the same physical disc?

2. Will XP keep them separate or will I have to use third party boot
manager to hide the unused OSes?

3. Any other special problems?

There seems to be lots of articles on other mixes of installs, but none on
dual or multiple installs of XP-Pro.

Thanks for any help.

For cleanest results, use a third-party boot manager. I recommend XOSL or
BootIt-NG. See if my webpage at www.goodells.net/multiboot helps your
research.

Be careful with Win98 -- my understanding is it can't work above 128GB (aka,
137GB), so you may have to make sure it only accesses space below that.
(Not sure, but I think that may also apply to data partitions 98 accesses.)

Ralph,

A multiple install will work , but you will need to buy additional licenses
for the Windows XP installs.
This is covered in the End User License Agreement (EULA) that you agreed to
abide by during the first install.
You may only install this once to your PC
Note: you do not own Windows XP - you own a license to install it under the
terms of that license agreement. Dual and multi boot systems require
multiple licenses.

Thanks Dan. I have been studying and experimenting with this setup for
about 8 months now and have read a lot of stuff on the 'net. Somehow I
missed that one. It is great, easily understood by myself, a real newby to
multi-booting. My first real problem was when I tried to install the
second XP program. I think your suggestion on installing and imaging along
with using XOSL will solve my problem. I have been using Boot Magic and it
won't hide that virtual drive on the extended partition.

Thanks a lot.

You're welcome. If your approach involves cloning the first XP partition,
make sure you pay attention to the sections re: boot.ini and the registry's
MountedDevices key. Keep a handle on those and things should go smoothly.
