I have a dual amd 2600+ mp processors and the system never seems to utilize
the second processor.... I would like a balanced ussage... can any one help
with like a setting or application or just plain say I wasted the time and
effort to get the system up.... help......

I am but I dont seem to be useing it in fact I look at the task maniger and
most all say prossesor 1

Where in the task Manager is the CPU in use by the process identified?

In my Task Manager, in the Processes tab, right-clicking on a specific process
brings up a dialog that included Processor Affinity. BOTH boxes should be
checked, so the process is ALLOWED to use either one. If you artificially
restrict a process, you will override the OS control over assignment, and likely
reduce performance.

Then you can go to the Performance tab, click View, CPU History, One Graph per
CPU. Then click View, Show Kernel Times. The red line will show OS kernel
activity; it should be distributed among both CPUs.

Keep the Task Manager in view, and start a couple applications. Watch the
activity in the individual CPU windows. It won't be dead even, but should be
distributed.
