Right I finally got the windows installer problem sorted, but Microsoft
strikes again this time with MSXML, i am having a problem installing MSXML
4.0, everytime I install it, it works till about halfway then an error pops
up saying "An error occured during the installation of assembly component
{303994BA-6487-47AE-AF1D-7AF6088EEBDB}, HRESULT: 0x80070005." my question is
what does this mean and how do i resolve it?
thx

couple more things to add to that
1) the package is MSXML 4.0 Parser and SDK
2) I plan on not installing the SDK

0x80070005 denotes "Access Denied" error. Have you tried logging in as
Administrator and doing the install?

I am the administrator. any other ideas?
(this rings a bell I think I may have had this problem with other microsoft
products with the same access denied error)

Perhaps you can try the MSXML 4.0 SP2 directly.

<quote>

MSXML 4.0 Service Pack 2 (SP2) is a complete replacement of MSXML 4.0 and
MSXML 4.0 Service Pack 1 (SP1). MSXML 4.0 SP2 provides a number of security
and bug fixes. MSXML 4.0 SP2 does not replace MSXML 3.0.

I've actually tried this before, yet I've tried it again and if you refer to
my first post in this question I get the same error as it gets to about 3/4
of the way through.
(my original question was how do I resolve this error)
any other ideas?

No other ideas. I'll try to install the package in my test systems to see if
I can repro the problem. Shall post back if I find anything interesting.
Perhaps the XML newsgroup experts may have an idea about this, in the
meantime.
