MSWord 2007 Mailmerge

Is it possible to convert a MSWord 2007 mailmerge document to one that
can be processed by an older MSWorksProgram?
 
You could either save as RTF or save as Works format (with the appropriate
filter - the old filters are available from my web site), but it is a
stretch to expect the merge to work in Works.
