Is anyone else experience a significant delay (30 second) for the "page
setup" window to appear in Microsoft Word 2003?

Hi Sher

That behaviour is not normal, so something is wrong.

Is it slow to respond for every document or just some documents?

If it's just some documents, then see:
How can I recover a corrupt document or template - and why did it become
corrupt?

If the problem happens with all documents, then try the following.

I doubt that old temporary files hanging around will be the cause, but it
never hurts to clean them out.
See: What to do when Word crashes

Since the File > Page Setup dialog relies on information from the printer
(eg it displays the paper sizes the printer uses), try downloading the
latest printer driver for your version of Windows from the web site of your
printer manufacturer.

Finally, work through the troubleshooting steps at

Hope this helps.

Usually means a problem with your printer driver: page setup reads details
like papersize and margins from the printer driver. This can get slow if the
driver is corrupt (which happens fairly often) or if your default printer is
on a busy network.

Try deleting and reinstalling the printer.

Could indicate a damaged printer driver. Try deleting and reinstalling the
printer.
