MSVDM Problem

If I deselect Shared Desktops and the screen saver activates, Excel looses
all menus and toolbars. I have to restart Excel to correct this problem.

Has anyone else seen this with their installation of Excel on an XP machine?
Or with any other Office application. I haven't seen this happen in Outlook
and I don't do much work in other office applications.

Other problems:
a) If I switch desktops, the space within the window border for a Cygwin
rxvt terminal window gets "misaligned" with the border, e.g. I lose half a
column of space on the left side, or the usuable area is a few lines shorter
than it used to be.
b) Buttons in taskbar (for applications) don't seem to stay in
"first-invoked" order from right-to-left.

Wishlist:
a) Have MSVDM not consume so much space in the taskbar. E.g. arrange the 4
buttons in a 2x2 square; move the MSVDM legend somewhere else, or remove it
entirely.
b) Allow some other method of moving an application from one virtual desktop
to another. It seems this requires enabling "shared desktops"--so if I don't
like to "share" my desktops, I first have to enable it, then use Alt-Tab to
get the desired application up, and the disable the sharing afterward...

Another problem: disabling "shared desktops" causes all the menu bars in
Excel 2003 to disappear (at least for me).

And, I indeed found how to suppress display of the "MSVDM" title...
