Suddenly i'm receiving a message like "The application or DLL
Windows/System32/msvcr71.dll is not a valid windows image.Check against your
installation disk" It's appearance seems arbitary and is more of a nuisance
as it doesn't seem to stop anything working. Is this just a corrupt file,
should I try to re-install it from the XP program disk?

im getting very similar msgs after i downloaded a few MS
patchs. mine happen on boot up and is causing my machine
to take up to 5mins to complete startup. did you ever get
any answer to your question or have you figured it out?

THANK YOU

I don't think it's on the XP Program disk .. it's the MS Visual C/C++
..NET Runtime library, and it probably arrived with some other
application that you installed. If you don't think you installed
anything like that, then you might want to worry how it arrived. See

http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/vclib/ht
ml/_crt_c_run.2d.time_libraries.asp

(watch the wrap). Note that MS said =not= to put it in the system
directory!
