I realize this file is part and parcel Nero Suite 6. However, I also realize
it does not need to load each time I start my computer. If I uncheck it in
msconfig, it will appear "next" time I open the suite and use one of the
applications.

Does anyone know how to disable this permanently?

Obviously Ahead is being rude by re-adding the registry Run key for
their startup application rather than let the user choose (and also very
rude for undoing changes made by the user using msconfig). When you use
msconfig to disable a startup item, that entry gets removed from its
standard location and saved under an alternate key. The application,
when ran, see the startup item is missing and then adds it. You sure
there is no option to disable the startup item? Does the startup item
actually stay loaded in memory, or does it just run and then exit?

You could use DiamondCD ProcessGuard to forcibly disallow any program
from running, including this one. I use it to kill Microsoft's newest
stupidity of wgatray.exe (Windows Genuine Authentication program) and
find that I haven't need to allow it to run even for downloads that say
they must do the genuine authenticate.

Hello Van,

I have checked the program thoroughly and there is no way to tell the

Not to start after the program is loaded. I may try your suggestion with
the diamond program, however, I am curious if someone has other suggestions
to add to this that may only require a registry edit or other suggestion
first. Thanks.

PhotoShow? Sure doesn't sound like an essential CD burning software
component. Can you uninstall and do a SELECTIVE install to *not*
include that component? PhoToShow sounds like some fluffy crap included
in a bundle and you chose to include it in the install. Maybe you get
the option to NOT include it on another install, or can uninstall it
separately in Add/Remove Programs. I saw Nero PhotoShow listed as a
product at Ahead's site but it is a separate product than Nero 6.

I uninstalled it but and it does remove the mssysmgr.exe file. However, it's
a very important program on my system. I have the Elite Photo Show, without
it I cannot produce slideshows such as the following which is a tribute the
Links 2003 game 1000's of us play around the world.
http://www.tctu.com/Links_2003/flash_detected.html

I do realize now that the mssysmgr file will only appear when I use that
application in the Nero Suite. So when I am done with it, I will just use
the task manager to close it.

Thanks for all your help.
