Hi. I have a virus I can't get rid of. It essentially has messed up my
anti-virus program, pops up messages trying to get me to go "anti-virus"
websites. The file is in the system32 folder but can't be deleted or closed,
it is always on. I got advice online, first step being to start Windows (XP
home edition) in safe mode, and I can't even figure out how to do that! F8
at startup isn't giving me that as an option, all I can do is select which
drive to boot first. Any help would be appreciated!

After you get the box asking which device to boot from keep pressing F8 and
you should get the next menu allowing safe mode. You might find that even
safe mode wont allow deleting the file. Boot from the windows CD and do it
from the console. Run an online virus scan.
