Hello...I'm running XP Pro on my PC, and when I boot up my PC,
it startup normally and then when everything is booted up, I get
my desktop screen. That's where my problem is...My MSN Messenger
(running MSN Messenger 6.2) is not activated, but my contacts
sends me messages like I'm online. Is this some kind of security breach?
How can I fix this problem?

If you didn't remove it the 4.6 version of messenger may still be running in
the background. If you log in using 6.1 does it tell you another instance
has been disconnected. Not those exact words but something like that.

Heh, and here I was thinking an online aquaintance of mine was losing her
mind! I had MSN Messenger running, and for the first time in over a year,
saw her name pop up. I sent her a message, asked why she hadn't used MSN
for ages (she had been mostly using Yahoo), she said she didn't know MSN
was running, because she "stopped using it" months ago. Guess she isn't
the only one with the problem.

I checked "Add or Remove Programs" and no earlier versions of MSN Messsenger
is listed there. When I activate MSN Messenger 6.2, a small box appears on
my
lower right-hand of my screen saying something like I'm already logged on my
NET Messenger
or something like that. I just click on it and it logs off and sign back in
with MSN Messenger 6.2.

Hey There,
Go to start>settings>control panel>add or remove programs
Then choose on the left side
Add or remove windows components
scroll down until you see the old messenger(windows messenger) turn off the
small "V" and your all set :)

Good Luck
