MSN Messenger v.6.1 III - & 3 strikes is out !!!

Jonathan Hi!

Just an acknowledgement would be good!

Still unable to permanently delete old contacts from
servers with this updated version - when is that ever
going to happen?!

ALSO: Downloaded the new upgrade MSN Messenger v.6.1 &
whilst it appears to run just fine - I notice that when I
ran Norton's One Button Checkup after the installation it
found the following registry errors:

\InprocServer32," refers to a missing file, "C:\Program
Files\Messenger\msgsc.dll."

Was fixed with the scanner that:

Fixes invalid Registry entry with "C:\Program Files\MSN
Messenger\msgsc.dll," file version: 6.1.0207.

Greetings GarryC,

Sorry, been a busy day.

If you mean deleting from the Privacy list, no "new" version of Messenger is going to allow
you to do this. Even if you were to create your own client which sent the "remove" command,
the contact would just come back the next time you sign in.

I would ignore these errors (I know you've already so-called "fixed" them). I have never
seen any of Norton's "WinDoctor" or other similar tools which attempt to scan the registry
for "errors" to actually do any good (in fact they usually break things).

Ummm a few months ago I am sure you were telling me that
it is a simple programming issue & you were working on
it.

As for the Norton's fix - I would trust Norton way before
Microsoft. A case of one man's music is another man's
noise...?!

Hi Garry,

You must have this confused with something else, this is the way the system was designed and
the way it's always been.

You're somewhat ignoring the fact that Microsoft created the OS in the first place =)

Au contrare - plz allow me to refresh your aging memory -
we were discussing some months ago that the contacts were
stored on the server & there was a way to pernamently
deleting unwanted & superceded contacts & that it was a
simple programming issue & it might included in an up &
coming version!

Secondly, your computing history needs refreshing - the
OS was not originaly created my MS but by a team at IBM &
then "purchased". It might also interest you to know
Peter Norton & Bill Gates are long-time cohorts !

This is getting us absolutely no-where!! All I want you &
your amazing MS techo's to do - is to logically consider
that some ppl would like choose to remove unwanted &
superseded contacts that they know for certain no longer
exist - SURELY it would be in their interests as well as
it would free up their own servers data entry.

without "breaking" how the clients work now has been discussed in another Messenger group
(nothing official of course). This would have to be a substantial design change, so you're
not going to see this overnight or even in the near future. I can tell you that it's on the
table, and that it's on the list, will this behavior [ever] be changed, I don't know.
