MSMQ (Message Queing) Max Queue Size

I am using Windows XP Pro with the Queuing Service set up.

I set up a small private queue and sent a lot of messages to that queue.

In MyComputer / MessageQueuing / PrivateQueues / MyQueue, I only saw 1000
messages in it while the number of messages I wrote was well over that figure.

What's the maximum queue size for a private / public queue ?
