Msimn caused an exception C0000006h in module Directdb.dll

When I try to start up Outlook Express 6 the following
message appears:

Msimn caused an exception C0000006h in module Directdb.dll

Have searched microsoft knowledge base:

article 233264 doesn't help (just get same error message)

article 225867 suggests i move a file called messages.ods,
but 'find' tells me that there is no such file.

Any suggestions?
