msiexec.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close

I have tried all installer fixes I can and still no luck. Is there anyway to
bypass the Windows Installer? Or are there any other suggestions. The problem
occurred after a system recovery. Thanks!
 
When does this occur? What is it trying to install? What does Event Viewer
say? What is the full message?
 
I am trying to install Greeting Card Factory Deluxe (version 5). It was
installed on the computer before I had to do the system recovery. The
installer is extremely slow when it goes through each screen. It occurs after
it asks for a user name and organization or after the screen where it asks
what folder it is to be installed into. Usually the installer is much quicker
in responding. Here is the error: Faulting application msiexec.exe, version
3.1.4000.1823, faulting module unknown, version 0.0.0.0, fault address
0x0233e6df.

Application error with an event ID: 1000

Have you resolved this? I am having the same problem with anothe
piece of software.
