Installed this mb +amd64 3000 running xp pro worked fine for about month -
it then lost the drivers for the on board network adapter and will not
re-install them voluntarily - I have to force the install. When booting up
it appears to get an ip address in the correct range usually
192.168.2.120-130 but I can't ping anything on the network even the router
that gave it the ip address

Any ideas - ive tried installing/uninstalling no luck it doesn't appear to
recognise the adapter but knows there is an ethernet device present

Have you checked in BIOS, onboard devices, that network device is
enabled? Could be that onboard network card has failed. Either plug in a
seperate NIC or return to supplier for warranty repair.

Umm.... checked bios and disabled & enabled Lan - no change, not mentioned
before but I had a second os installed (win64 on separate partition) which
has also lost the ability to load drivers, I have wiped the win64 and clean
installed another copy of win xp - no network device detected - the network
appears to be a notwork thanks for confirming my suspicion. I have ordered
a network card since they cost peanuts - compared to the trouble of getting
a warranty repair with the kids m/c out of action for weeks (I have
contacted msi though - not holding my breath)

Have had a similar experience. My onboard LAN was recognised, but
wouldn't give a valid IP (only a 169.254 number). I too had more than
one O/S on the machine and it didn't make any difference which one was
used I couldn't even 'ping' my router's IP. Disabled onboard LAN and
bunged in a cheapo NIC I had hanging around and all has been swell. :)
