I have a firewall.
After Visiting a web page. A program called mshta.exe popped up
asking to make connection to the web. I denied it. Is this a virus
or not?

Thank You,

Greg P Rozelle

Greg,
"A program called mshta.exe popped up"
Not a good sign! Did you scan your system for a virus?
Look in your Firewall log - where was it trying to connect to?

Anyone tell me how in the world part of The Adult content dialler
got downloaded without my permission? I never visted an adult site.
Never clicked yes or no with an activeX. I do use a popup stopper.

Why didn't adaware detect it? It could be because I block the
connection to download the rest of the software.

It happend after I visted this a members site from this
http://members.fortunecity.com/

I did it agian today, all things that poped up was gator. It tried to
sneak install. I wish Microsoft would sue them.

Thank You,

Corrected Post
After reading about mshta.exe
It is a normal file. It had an odd behavior.
After I visited a member site at

www.fortunecity.com
My firewall came up with this.
Mshta.exe is requesting an outgoing connection.
I denied it

However, I tried scanning for viruses. No viruses.
Adware didn’t detect any spy ware. No unusually entries
In all of the start up areas.

I brave myself to try this site again. I noticed
Gator was trying to sneak install.
