Since Friday, June 20, 2003, 8:00:50 PM, I have been
receiving MSG Pop-Ups utilizing my Microsoft Messenger
Service implemented in WIN XP operating system: bypassing
my ISP firewall, Earthlink Pop-Up blocker, my Norton
Firewall; putting a grey box add onto my screen. I use
the highest levels of security that Norton System Works
2003 provides. I was told by my ISP that they don't
provide a work-around for the "annoyance" Some of the
sites:www.JensLiveCam.com,www.SaveYourPrivacy.com,www.Mess
engerStopper.com,www.BlockMessenger.com,www.KillMessenger.
com,www.Bustpopups.com,and then www.antimessage.com which
offered some XXX stuff and advertised how to do this to
others, All in JetAd Pro 2003? Some of the above sites
advertise a way to stop them for a fee. Please assist.
Thanks.

Greetings John,

What you're seeing is the Messenger service built-in to Windows, *not* Windows Messenger
(which are two different things) which spammers are exploiting -- this is not Microsoft, nor
can Microsoft control them anymore then they can control spam to your e-mail inbox.

To get rid of these pop ups, you'll need to disable the "Messenger Service", click Start,
then Run, enter "services.msc"and click OK. Scroll down to "Messenger", select it,
right-click and then choose Properties. Under startup type, choose 'Disabled' and then
choose the 'Stop' button. After the service is stopped, click OK. Nothing in Windows or any
real third-party applications should be effected by this.
