MSG: Cannot Delete File

I receive the following message when attempting to delete
an empty folder:
Cannot Delete File: Cannot read from the source file or
disk

This is an empty folder (no hidden files appear, no 'read
only' check box is on)

Please advise as to how I may delete this.

Try to delete the folder from the command line:

Start --> Run --> cmd --> Enter

rd [drive:]path

When I attempt to do that, I get 'the system cannot find
the file specified' this is displayed three times (which
may be levels deep I am in the folder

clicking on the properties shows a zero byte count for
the folder; i've cold booted the machine as well.

Try taking ownership of the folder. Go to Windows help and support on the
start menu and type take ownership in the search box. This will give you the
instructions needed.
