msdart.dll error installing sp2

I tried to install the SP2 for xp home, got a good bit of
the way through it and got an error saying the procedure
entry point could not be found in msdart.dll and
something about getiums (wish you could copy/paste error
messages). This caused the installation to stop
completely and i had to restart which uninstalled the
service pack but left me having to do a system restore in
safe mode and then reinstalling windows. I got the error
again trying to use a dvd player. Not exact but same dll.
HELP!!!
