Larry - Why on earth would you, quote "... i have been using msconfig
everyday for two years...." - consider yourself fortunate that there were
not problems sooner.

Every day! Whatever for? And you should *never* disable services with
msconfig. Do Start>Run>services.msc [enter] instead. My guess is that
you disabled something you shouldn't have and the problem is user
error.

What service are you trying to change?

well old man....

fiddling around with something you
didn't know anything about got
you stuck in the mudd.....huh?

you should leave this up to
the youngins...

try to boot up in safe mode
then do a system restore to
the day or time before you
played the fiddle...

That's two years Ben!.

Larry - stick with the newsgroup. Your post implied again "using msconfig
everyday" - now if in fact you did "use" msconfig as you state - that is
considered a no-no and will result in some "humorous" responses.

Also readers of your post can only respond to the info you provide - the
info in your second post should have been included in the first. Does the
computer boot normally? At what point did the error message appear ? did you
successfully boot into safe mode? If yes - at what point did the error
appear?
Did you access msconfig prior to going to safe mode? If yes - why? Any other
info that may help getting responses.

thanks for your reply , sure do appreciate it.
my computer does boot normally , the error message appeared just after i put
in safe mode and ran defrag. after defrag finished i restarted computer to
get out of safe mode and it hung on the windows is shutting down screen so
had to use power
off button to shut it down , when i booted it back up i got the message that
it was in safe mode (but it did not look like it was) so i typed msconfig to
see if it was set for normal start up , it was , when i clicked ok to exit is
when i get the an access denied error was returned while attempting to change
a service deal
yes i did access msconfig before i went to safe mode to look at the start
and services tabs because it takes five min. for this pc to shut off and was
looking at what was starting up.
thanks again
