Hi.

I am hoping somebody can please get back to me asap.
Being fairly literate at computers, somebody told me if I
went to MSCONFIG, and then selected "start", I would see
a list of programs that started up each time my computer
started up, and if I DESELECTED a lot of them, that in
fact I could save a LOT of space. I tried "disable all"
but aparently that didn't work. I am not literate when
it comes to what is what. Can somebody please PLEASE
tell me what I should not check off on this list? I will
be eternally grateful. Thank you.

There is nothing on the list that you cannot check off. I.E. None will cause
you any problems. The best way to learn --cleck off 5 at a time and if
anything occurs you dis like, put them back. If there is a program there you
rarely use, remove the X--then it won't be loaded into memory. When you THEN
want it click on its ICON.

Turning things off in msconfig won't save you any space, as it doesn't
remove anything from the drive, it just keeps it from launching at startup.

If you need more hard drive space, you need to delete things from the drive.
