msconfig.exe

No, but it is sometimes rather illusive as sometimes "Windows Update's"
replaces it, placing it in a slightly different location. If it will not
execute from the "Run" box find it with Windows Search (WinKey+F) and type
in msconfig.exe. When it finds the file, choose 'create shortcut' from the
right-click menu and then cut and paste the shortcut to your:

[C:\Documents and Settings\<USERNAME>\Start Menu\Programs\Accessories\System
Tools]

....folder, so you can get hold of it from now on.

Is there a link to msconfig.exe from the Control Panel, or is it some
kind of Easter egg?

Usually, most folks run it by going to Start, Run, msconfig <enter>.

By default, it is not in any of the menus (that I know of) like Start,
Control Panel, Administrative Tools where the other good stuff is, but
you can add it there if you want by creating a shortcut to the
executable in this folder:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users.WINDOWS\Start Menu\Programs
\Administrative Tools

At least that works on my system. I just added an Msconfig option in
my Administrative Tools list. But, I won't use it, I will use the old
fashioned way.

You can add a shortcut to it just about anywhere you want, but first
you have to know where msconfig.exe is located.

Or, what Mr. Meddick said!

You can put it wherever you want - is it a tool, is it an accessory,
is it an accessory that is a tool, is it just mine or everybody's...

sort of thing you want novices poking around in.

Why the lie? Wouldn't it be better to admit to yourself that you
simply don't know the answer, and refrain from posting nonsense?

Why not refrain and use you talents to answer the OP question as it is plain
to see that you have not but all the help you seem to be able to provide is
acusations to others. Please tell him where the link to MSCONFIG is...

I am sure we all want to know...

Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools on every WinXP Pro box
I recall seeing. Though it was admittedly much quicker to use the Start
Run dialog to access it.

It was not there on mine, I distinctly remember putting it there. That's
because I was used to using it on my Win98 system and looked for it
specially on my new system.

I have 6 XP Pro systems in this room alone and there is no link to
msconfig on any of them. The executable is there, but there is no
link to be found on any menu. We run it from Start, Run - like good
boys. PCHEALTH is in your path usually.

Maybe we did something wrong during our installations and forgot to
check the be sure to put a link to msconfig option.

I have seen some machines where msconfig.exe does not even exist and
had to be downloaded.

Anywho, the OP can put a link anywhere he wants, if he wants. That is
a good thing.
