Msconfig cleanup

I recently installed an HP printer and software. I wasn't satisfied with
the printer and returned it for a Canon.
I uninstalled the HP software which went without a problem. Later I found
none of the HP software had been deleted.
The files and folders were large, I found, for simply a printer but I
deleted them and then used reg clean to clean up the registration.
Problem ended? Nope. I ran msconfig and guess what. Under SERVICES I've
got an HP PML driver listed even though I deleted the file.
Under STARTUP I've got 4 separate HP programs listed even though they were
deleted.
I've unchecked them all and the computer runs fine but how do I remove
completely so I don't have to see them listed in msconfig and so I don't
have to use a SELECTIVE STARTUP.
Thanks

I don't know how they can be running if they were deleted, but I have found
that the Run line in the registry is often where these programs start.
(Sometimes, as with my HP printer, they are in the Startup folder on the
Start | All Programs menu.)
HKLM, Software, Microsoft, Windows, Current Version, Run. I would export the
line before deleting it--just in case!
BTW, I'm curious as to why you were dissatisfied with the HP printer. Mine
won't print Word documents if they have envelopes attached, and I've given
up trying to explain to or get any sensible response from the HP tech
support people.

The printer was given as a gift though I wouldn't have chossen it my self
for the following reason. You have 3 sorts of ink cartridges but only place
for 2. You're supposed to switch the regular BLACK for the PHOTO COLOR
cartridge. My last printer was an old Epson EP2 and I was taught NEVER to
remove a cartridge once it had been installed.
I gave it a try anyway and though it prints beautiful photos, the very
first time I switched cartriges the PHOTO COLOR cartrisdge was damaged even
though I was very carfull. Thats why the printer was returned.
In retrospect I'm also not very happy with HPs hugh amount of software that
they install nor there incomplete removal of it.
