msconfig and other windows still disappearing HELP!

I want to change my start up programs, install Norton or AVG virus scan. The windows disappear after a couple of seconds
I'vd scanned with adware and spyware and cleanes up those pests. I've also scanned with on'line virus scanner from trend.the virus scan found two virus one it could get rid of the other I have to eleminate the worm is SDBOT.MY. Of course I try to enter in the regedit and that window diappears. Any ideas on how to stop this problem. My firewall is enabled. I don't understand why I would have adware and spyware bugs. Thanks for all your help.

Thank you Roger I finally was able to get some configuring done. Now I'll try to load Norton Internet Security 2004. Dakart
 
Everything is working great right now unfortunately NIS did not install properly and I had to un-install for the internet to work. I do have AVG loaded and adware and spywareblaster. I'm hoping that will keep me safe for awhile

Hi Dakart,

You have a working Antivirus, ad-aware and spywareblaster. Together
with a firewall that should keep your system protected :-)
