XP is installed on the computer I bought about a week
ago. I'm using a Microsoft MN700 Wireless Base Station
with a Direcway DW6000 modem.
Every time I turn on the computer I'm prompted to
download and install a "critical update" to improve
wireless connectivity. The download goes smoothly, but
when I try to install the update I'm told:
"The contents of this file cannot be unpacked. The
executable you are trying to run has been corrupted.
Pleas obtain another copy of this file, verify its
integrity, and try again."
I've gone through this process about six times.
1. What is MSBNDownload.exe?
2. If I do need it, how do I get it?
3. If I don't need it, how do I get the computer to stop
bugging me about it?

It's an update for the router's firmware and for its software, the MS
Broadband Utility.

You can download the installer from
Microsoft.http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/broadbandnetworking/15_Downloads.aspx

Save it to the desktop and install it manually.
