Hello All

Need some help. Some time in the last month.I found this program in my
StartUp group. Can't figure out how it got there or what it does.
According to Properties its from a company called FullCircle LLC. Its
housed in a directory under Program Files along with 12 to 15 other files
all from the same company. Does anyone know what it is? I currently have
it unchecked in msconfig with no ill-effects.

TIA
Randy

Thats it exactly!

So its spyware? How come Spybot doesn't pick it up? How do I get rid of
it? Just delete the directory?

TIA
Randy

Randy,

I never heard of any of this before your first post.

Removing this may cause some FREE program you got to not work.

Look in Add or Remove Programs and remove it if you don't want it.

Start | Run | Type: appwiz.cpl | OK

If this isn't scumware...

MS_Update.exe Hah! Sounds like a Microsoft file, but it isn't.

I think that this pretty much says it all...

Unbelievable! I also found this on my work computer yesterday and I'm
scratching my head to understand how it even got there... I'm on a
corporate LAN with a hardware firewall, running up-to-date NAV and
neither Adaware nor Spybot saw a trace of this. I checked my home
machine but it's not there, phew!

I removed it, but I'm curious how it got here and what it did while it
was on my machine.

Hi,

FYI - I have now figured out how MS_UPDATE.EXE and related files ended
up on my computer. It was installed from a CD marketing VOOM HD
services which I received in the mail.

I asked FullCircle about it and they were nice enough to provide the
following answer:

*****
MS_UPDATE is a FullCircle application that is installed when certain
client
marketing CDs are inserted into a computer or when a FullCircle eBoard
application is installed via a prompt (the choice is up to our
client). We
have several CDs out in the marketplace today (i.e. BellSouth CD, a
VOOM CD,
etc) and you must have utilized one of these CDs. All the MS_UPDATE
does is
provides a communication path between the CD, or eBoard, so that when
these
applications are used they contain the latest content available. It
also
collects an uploads usage of these applications, but in no way,
uploads any
type of personal information. All of these CDs have legal terms on
and in
the CD that reflects all of the above. If you require to completely
uninstall the MS_UPDATE, you should be able to find a "FullCircle
eBoard"
line item in the "Add / Remove Programs" in your Control Panel. If
for some
reason you cannot find this file, then feel free to visit our website
and
download our uninstaller at
http://www.fceboard.com/html/fullcircle_eboard_uninstaller.html

It doesn't justify pretending to be a Microsoft update tool.
