MS Works 8 and Marital Strife. Can anyone help?

New laptop with XPsp2 fully updated and with Works 8.
My wife was typing a document 3 pages long when something happened or some
key she pressed so that it is now only 1 page long with 1/2 line of typing,
BUT the document is 170kbs long and the first 2 pages have disappeared.
The WP program was on 10 min backup. Is there any way of getting back the
missing 2 pages, or reloading the automatic backup.
Any help much appreciated, before she has my guts for garters.

Are you sure the text didn't just turn into one very long line, running off
the right side of the screen?

Yes. When I open a copy of the document in notepad, this is part of what I
see, with the 1/2 line of text:-

Ctrl/Z will usually undo the last Faux Pas.. It may be too late for
that now.
