ms works 7.0 0n xp

I have a problem with works retaining a templated table document. On opening word for works this document appears and can not be deleted. It appears like a front page. All attempts to delete from various locations have failed. Works has been re-installed but the document still appears. Requesting a new document only achieves this being placed on the task bar
Any ideas please

do a search for a file named normal.dot and delete it. It will reappear
again, but will be a new blank default.
