Hi All

Wondered if you could shed any light on this problem.

Win XP Pro SP1 machine with all of the latest web updates as of today. PC
is actually running on a PII 700Mhz processor, but with a fast motherboard,
hard disk, etc it is pretty nippy with WinXP on it.

This machine has very little programs on it apart from the defaults, but the
ones it does have are Adobe 6 Professional and Office XP (Excel, Word and
Outlook installed).

If I bring Word up and start typing numerous random chars (A-Z 0-9 nothing
special), after an intermittent amount of time the whole machine will freeze
to the point that the only way to come out of it is to press the button on
the front of the PC. Ctrl + Alt + Del just doesn't work.

Start the PC up again, then Word, start typing away and it will lock up
again completely randomly by just typing keys.

Re-installed Office from scratch, but makes no difference.

Any ideas?

Hi Craig

Don't think the 2003 updates will work, because I'm running Office XP
(2002).

Funny thing is we've tried 2 other WinXP machines and they work fine all day
with Offiec XP (2002).

Any ideas?

Did you try and get the updates for Office 2003? This could help your
dilema.

try reinstalling adobe from scratch. and if that doesn't work, try
defragging the hard disk. I'd suggest something like perfectdisk -
reorganize the system files while you're at it.
