I need to start writing documents that would allow me to easily insert common statistical items. I've been told that you can easily create these through Insert Objects, however, I can't seem to locate the "object" to insert. Any help would be appreciated.

I think you may be confusing the terminology. 'Object' means the output of
some other application, embedded within your document. If you simply mean
statistical symbols like sigmas and x-bars, you can insert them from the
Symbol option (on the Insert menu). You can also create these as Autotext
items if you need to call them often. Also worth looking at the Equation
Editor: for some types of mathematical expression, it's the best method.

Hi Dave

You can use Insert > Object > Microsoft Equation. If you don't see Microsoft
Equation in the list, you'll need to install it. I seem to recall that it is
not installed in a "typical" install. Try Start > Settings > Control Panel >
Add or Remove Programs (or a route like that, depending on your version of
Windows).

Hope this helps.

Hi, Dave. Can you elaborate on what you mean by "common statistical items"? You can insert mathematical equations by clicking on Insert | Object | Microsoft Equation. You can insert individual symbols by clicking on Insert | Symbol.

Thanks for everyone's response. It is the Equation Editor that I am looking for. It doesn't seem to be installed in my version. Is there a place I can download it?

Dave

It should be on your Office CD ... it's not installed automatically.
