I have an OEM version of XP Pro, had to Wipe my laptop HD
and start over. The Product ID is no longer valid so I
need to call MS to get a new ID. Anyone know a phone
number?

Thanks, kenn

The Product ID is different from what you need.
The phone number will be displayed onscreen when you select the correct
response.
See the link below for examples of getting the phone in activation screens.

When you call the number, you will be prompted for a 50 digit string and
will receive a 42 digit string to activate XP.

.
I bought a used laptop which came with XP already loaded.
Unfortunately, he kept the disk. With XP loaded, the puter
still had files on it from his use. I deleted and changed
what I could but couldn't get all of them. So, I bought XP
and loaded it hoping it woould wipoe out his ID files and
prompt me for mine. No such luck and, I did not get phone
numbers, probably because XP was already on there. Even
took it to a shop and they couldn't change it without
starting over.

That's why I'm asking for a phone number which has been
graciously supplied by Nick.

Thanks, kenn

If the vendor sold you a computer with XP installed, but kept the disc, then
he's broken the terms of the EULA and you should contact him about it. If
the terms of the sale included the OS, then he MUST provide the disk and
license to you! If he won't report the sucker to MS...
