also (sorry didn't think of this in last posting):
- your virus scanner may be set to scan incoming email and that will
take time
- the email may be HTML and it takes time to retreive the references if
you don't block them
- the mail may be on a remote IMAP server and it takes time to download
- I have not install any anti-virus program yet
- the mails I referred to are those already downloaded from the ISP server
- if I am not wrong it normally takes < 2 sec to open an email

Better get some anti-virus programs soonest, and check that you don't
already have one or more. Ensure also you have some firewall
protection; else you'll get the Blaster virus sooner than you realize.
Two homes in neighbourhood each with new computers and new broadband
connections ... two infections by "blaster" before Christmas day ended.
