As the majority of problems with Outlook occur when any Norton product is
installed and set for Outlook integration, I would try disabling it. If
that does not work, then uninstall it and reinstall and deselect the
option
for integration with Outlook. See if that helps.

| || If Detect and Repair does not help (under any Office Program Help
|| Menu) then
|| try running scanpst.exe. How big is the .pst file? Do you have any
|| other add-ins installed?

|| After furious head scratching, Peter Ledden asked:
||
||| For the last few weeks Outlook 2002 has presented me with this
||| dialogue box when I close Outlook, this happens if I close it
||| through File/Exit or through X close button. ' Microsoft Outlook has
||| encountered a problem and needs to close' Apart from that it works
||| perfectly. I have tried shutting down the Norton Personal Firewall
||| first but it still happens. XP Home with all updates.
||

|
| Have run Detect and Repair also scanpst.exe. My .pst file is 110 MB.
| I have the MS backup add-in, Lookout and Watch your Back. All these
| programmes have been installed for years with no problem. Could it be
| something to do with NIS?
