I have visual studio .net 2003 which came with 3 MSDN CDs. Is it possible to
get an update to this CD (or a DVD or download)? I phoned MS but the guy on
the phone was very confused and thought I meant an MSDN subscription. In the
end he suggested I ring a retailer!!!

Yes, there is a media replacement policy but I'm sorry I can't provide a URL
and yes, Microsoft hires a lot of morons but then again perhaps you did not
explain yourself well and you're the moron :-)

By an 'update' I assume you do mean replacement media. If not, you would be
the moron as an update means you want the next release of the product in
which case you would have to buy the next release from a reseller if you did
not have access to MSDN Subscription Downloads.

If you need replacement media call again and ask for replacement media.

The problem I had was that he didn't understand the difference between the
msdn that comes with visual studio and an msdn subscription. I had to
convince him that a retail version of vs does in fact come with msdn CDs. I
did try to explain as best I could but it just wasn't working :-)

I'm after a newer version of the MSDN help file that comes with visual
studio, I'm not really interested in updating to vs 2005 just yet. I'll ask
them about replacement media and see how I go. THanks.

To the best of my knowledge, there is no "update" to the MSDN CD's. You'll
need to purchase a subscription to the MSDN "Library" Edition" to get
updated documentation.Any replacement media they send you will be a copy of
the release disks and will not have been updated.
