What is this and what is it for? I have trouble getting speed on
uTorrent and I'm wondering if this can be a factor? I have trouble
restarting my computer and I often get a flash screen from this Net
Framework when I am forced to push the reset button.

Thanks

There are various versions of .Net, 1.0, 1.1, 2.0, 3.0. .Net is not needed
by XP. Some applications require it and might require a specific version.
Do you have any software installed that needs a version of .Net? If not you
can uninstall it through Add/Remove programs.

..Net Framework has nothing to do with uTorrent. The most critical
consideration in uTorrent is that you have your port forwarded correctly so
that you are able to upload at a decent rate. 20kB's/sec is a decent upload
rate and depending on the number of peers/seeds in the swarm should net you
a very good download speed.

#1 Is their an easy way to see what programs require .net Framework?
#2 My problem with uTorrent is that when it's running it interferes
with my Browser. (Firefox)

Not that I know of. If you uninstall .Net, then if a program is present
that needs it, it will complain. I know the Vista Upgrade Advisor uses .Net
2.0. Some ATI graphics drivers do, and some printer software installs it.

Some ATI graphics drivers do

A driver, huh? That's awesome. The last thing to possibly ever have a
dependancy on .NET, and ATI pulled it off.

There's little wonder ATI can't write a driver these days without forcing a
download of less than 50MB.

It's not the driver per se but I believe it's used for the Catalyst Control
Center.

Yeah...utter crapware you don't want or need.

I wish both ATI and Nvidia would start offering driver packages, and
packages that include drivers + bells and whistles.

I'd *love* to see how many people would actually get the bells and whistles
package, given the choice.
