Short from a format and reinstall, Windows installer is
having some issues. Err 1601 - and will not alow me to
install ms installer dependant programs. Office has just
died, cant re install it as windows installer has this
error and can not continue.

I have already stoped and started the service and tryed
ms update and .net updates, and its getting to the stage
of format c:

Any suggestions?

Also, if I do need to download and install MS Installer,
will it install if the installer is not working?

There is no separate download of Windows Installer for WinXP...
