One of our Senior members is having an Issue with the downloading and
installation of the MS Antispyware Program in that he is unable to download
or install it.

In an effort to help him I downloaded the program and put it on a CD and
sent it to him, but he is unable to install it and gets this message:

"WARNING Microsoft Windows Antispyware has encountered a critical error
(error 103)
Please restart Windows Antispyware & run program again. If you continue to
experience this problem. please uninstall the program & install the most
recent version of Windows Antispyware.
You can use add or remove programs in control panel to uninstall this
version of Windows Antispyware"

He has tried what the above suggests but always comes back to the same
issue.

Can anyone assist please?

Joe,
Wrong group as Carey mentioned, but please also follow this from Jeff Dillon
at MSFT:

"Please send me private email at (e-mail address removed) if you are getting
either 103 or 101 errors. I'm the main developer working on this issue. At
this point we will need your errors.log file located in the main app
directory where you installed.

thanks

Jeff"

Have you checked his Control Panel to make sure there is no other
version installed already?

Is it running in the Sys Tray?

Do you have any anti-virus or firewall software running -- if so,
disable, then try installing.

Does he have an active Internet connection...are there any port blocks
that might hamper installation?

Yes, it reminded me that I had once installed Kazaa Lite.
It detected KL and Messenger Plus as spyware.

Maybe MS should call it "AntiAnythingIDontLike Program"

Uninstall. Reboot. Try to install again immediately after the reboot. I have
seen problems when people leave their computers on for weeks on end. Maybe
something gets locked in RAM? Obviously, this is only a small percentage of
the computer users, but it does occur.

Plus, it is amazing the multitude of simple problems that can be cleared if
the computer is totally shut down for about 15-30 seconds - liked a bound up
internal modem that can no longer fax documents (most recent with clients
computer).
