I have a database which is located on my server in a shared company folder.
When one of my end users opens the database and then closes it, I
automatically have a copy of the database with a new name. The first time he
opens it, it names itself database, the 2nd time he opens and then closes it,
it makes another copy is is called database1, and this continues this way all
day. By the end of the day I might have 10 or more copies of the database.
This only happens with the one user. Can anyone help me with this please....

In order to share a database located on a server, all users must have full
access (using windows server security) to that folder. Do you compact your
database on close? This might be the reason, because that user has no full
rights to that folder.

Hope this helps,

I will check on the compact database on close when I get to the office
tonight but I am not sure what you mean about the security rights on the
folder. Can you tell me how to check this? Thank you Beth
