I received this error at bootup. Can someone tell me what it means? SP 2 was
recently installed.

I could say something cute regarding ED, but I'll resist. ;-)

That message and question are just a wee bit way too vague. We need to see
the exact verbiage without interpretation. Don't assume anything about the
error message or that we'll understand *any* abbreviation or interpretation
you may decide to make because, as you can tell, it doesn't work that way.

Look in event viewer (stat->run->eventvwr.msc) and look for red-X items
related to your error message. If you double click the line you can hit the
clipboard icon (just underneath the down arrow) to copy the text of the
error and then you can simply paste it back here.

The error I got was as sent. A dialog box came up and said " MrInitialize
failed -7". I did as directed and as near as I can tell it is related
Microsoft Fax Console that failed. I don't use the MS Fax Console so I don't
know what happened. It hasn't occurred again. I did find a myriad of the
following in the "SYSTEM" directory. Can you tell me what caused these
errors? Grateful for your assistance.

Could you have accidentally installed a Unix program in the
StartUp directory?

OK. Do start->run->msinfo32. Expand the software branch and click on the
startup branch. Hit ctrl-a then ctrl-c to copy the data, then paste it back
here.

Here is the info you requested. Thanks again...

Several things are funky. First, dump Memturbo. It's totally useless and can
only cause problems. It is impossible for that program to do what it
claims. Your machine will thank you and breath a large sigh of relief once
it's gone.

You'll also want to uninstall MSAS. It's still a beta for a variety of
reasons and has no business on production machines.

Start by getting rid of those two and see what happens.

Will do as recommended, thanks
