MPNScan.exe

What is MPNScan.exe? In checking the task manager to see why my CPU is
running faster than usual, it displayed MPNScan.exe as running. Being new to
the computer world, I don't know much about the "hidden" programs that run.
Can someone please help me? Thank you.
 
Yes, I have the Canon MP450 scanner/printer/copier, but it is turned off.
Even if it was on but not being used, would it still be running something?

Do you have one of those computers where the CPU speed is stepped up or
down depending on load? The real question is are you noticing an
increased clock speed, when the scanner is off: or are you noticing an
improvement in performance when the scanner is off?

It it is possible that the program uses less resources while it detects
that the scanner is inactive. (performance improvement)

HOWEVER, just because mpnscan.exe is not a virus does not mean that
your computer is malware free. (increased cpu clock)
