mpeg failure

I have some mpegs created by Digital Juice. When I import
them into PowerPoint they initially play but when the
clip ends I get an MCI error message: 'The specified
device is now being closed. Wait a few seconds, and then
try again'. Unfortunately this can only be terminated by
Ctl Alt Del of PowerPoint. I think this is something to
do with the Main Concept plug in for Vegas 5 and I have
adopted their work around but still the problem continues.

I haven't got an answer to your question but I've had some nasty experiences
with Main Concept MPEG drivers in the past. I take it these are MPEG2
files?

I was just about to post that very same problem...
And... this MCI error appeared only 2 days ago on my
system. I have never had problems before. NEVER. Was
hoping your question had my solution.

What are we going to do. Let's keep posted here on this
please.

Were your MPEGs created with Digital Juice or with Vegas? Are they MPEG1 or
MPEG2?

I've had good luck with MPEG1s from Vegas--and those use the Main Concept
MPEG1 codec, if I'm not mistaken.

Yes, they use the MainConcept codec - and I've had no problems either.

The mpegs were created by Digital Juice as part of their new
Presenters Toolkit and are mpeg1. A thread on Sony Vegas knowledgebase
suggests hiding mcdsmpeg.ax and mcspmpeg.ax. Both these files are in
the /Shared Plug-ins/MCMEG folder of Vegas. When I initially complied
with this the problem seemed to go away but when I re-opened PPT and
tried to play the clip plays but the MCI error appears when the clip
has finished. Incidently if you go into slide show there is no problem
its only when in normal view and you right click the clip to play.
Thanks for your help. Geoff

Well, if the video plays okay in slide show view, I wouldn't worry about it
too much, to tell the truth.

Your probably right. You have to draw a line in the sand at some point
Thanks for your help
