I am trying to insert MP3 files into a PowerPoint 2003 presentation. I
created the files in a software called TextAloud. A couple of the files will
play but the majority do nothing. I have set up and inserted each file the
same way.

thanks,
Jim

But did you create them the same way? What is different? Do the short ones
work and the long ones don't? Do they all use the same voice? Have you moved
or renamed them since inserting them?

If you go to Start > Run and type mplay32.exe to open the MCI player, will they
all play?

They are all created the same way. Same voice. Before the change you
suggested it would play in a Wav or WMA format. After the change it will not
play in a Wav format. All files reside in the same folder. I have renamed a
few when trying different options. Also, I can see the time line playing in
the custom anitmation window but no sound and it does not stop automatically.
Only the mp3 original (first) file that I created works in Powerpoint.

Now I'm confused. What change did I suggest?

How are you inserting the sound files? You cannot change the file name after
you've inserted them. You also cannot move them to a different folder.

Do the files run in mplay32.exe?

Sonia,
My misunderstanding. All the files run (different quality levels) in the
mplay32. I insert the files in PowerPoint- insert tab - Movies and Sounds -
Sounds from Files. Also I have not moved any files, they all reside in the
same folder

Did you set them to play automatically? How long (total characters) is the path
to the files? In other words, have you put them somewhere deep in C:\Documents
and Settings\trouble\My Documents\Ulead DVD Workshop\2.0\test\Capture, etc.,
etc.???? Try moving the files to C:\test. Then delete them in the presentation
and re-insert them. Set them to play automatically. Go to Slide Show mode. Do
they play?
